Our full-day itinerary begins with a visit to Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, located approximately 11 kilometers from the city. This impressive fortress boasts four levels waiting to be explored. For a unique experience, visitors have the option to enjoy an Elephant ride, offering a distinctive perspective of the fort and its surroundings. From the fort, marvel at the scenic beauty of Maota Lake and the Kesar Kyari Garden, dating back to the 1600s and originally designed for the harem's enjoyment, complete with a pulley system ensuring their privacy. Next, we'll visit the Shila Devi Temple, home to an idol of Durga brought here in the early 1600s by Raja Man Singh I, fulfilling a promise made after emerging victorious against King Kedar.
Explore the enchanting Sheesh Mahal, also known as the Mirror Palace, featuring intricately carved marble panels depicting a "magic flower" on a pillar. Admire the seven beautiful forms carved into the pillar: a lotus, lion's tail, scorpion, hooded cobra, fishtail, cob of corn, and elephant trunk. Discover the historical significance of Panna Meena Bawri, a stepwell originally designated as a bathing place for Indian Queens, offering a glimpse into the exclusive lifestyles of the past. Then, visit the Man Sagar Lake, a manmade reservoir created by Raja Man Singh in 1610 following the construction of a dam on the Dravyavati river. If time permits, we'll proceed to the City Palace, still serving as the residence of the Jaipur royal family, boasting its iconic pink façade constructed nearly 300 years ago in 1732 when Jaipur ascended to capital city status. Admire the adjacent Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Breeze, where royal ladies traditionally observed street processions and events while maintaining their privacy behind delicately carved screens. In the evening, we'll return to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay in Jaipur.
Following an early breakfast, we embark on a journey to Jodhpur. Upon reaching, we check-in at the hotel before venturing out for a half-day exploration of the city. Our first stop is the Mandore Gardens, a picturesque heritage site in the Blue City. Renowned as an erstwhile garden, it houses a collection of memorials and temples from the Marwar dynasty, prominently featuring the Royal cenotaphs. Another notable attraction is the Jaswant Thada, a popular cenotaph constructed in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh. In the evening, we return to the hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.
After enjoying breakfast, we'll depart from the hotel and embark on a scenic drive to the desert city of Jaisalmer, covering approximately 285 kilometers in about 5 hours. Upon arrival, settle into your chosen accommodation, be it a hotel or desert camp, and prepare for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.
Today’s sightseeing will start after lunch, so enjoy your morning at leisure before we leave in the afternoon. We’re going on a sightseeing in Jaisalmer today and visit the Gadisar Lake first. This is a man-made water reservoir which was at one point, the only source of water in Jaisalmer. The reservoir was constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer, and subsequent ghats and temples were built along the banks. Enjoy the best view by boating through the calm lake and listening to the sound of migratory birds. Then about 40 km from Jaisalmer is the Sam Sand Dunes within Thar Desert. Hop on a jeep ride through the sand dunes on a jeep safari trip (at additional cost) or try out riding camels (at additional cost) to enjoy the sunset view here. When evening comes, camps and tents are prepared with live music and folk-dance performances to keep you entertained while you enjoy delicious Rajasthani cuisine. We’ll head back to the hotel for your overnight stay in Jaisalmer afterwards.
Savor your breakfast at the hotel or desert camp before we begin our final exploration of the historical city. Our journey commences with a visit to Jaisalmer Fort, situated in the heart of the city. This iconic fortress, the second oldest in Rajasthan, was constructed by Rawal Jaisal, the city's namesake. Serving not only as a stronghold but also as a vibrant community, the fort houses shops, hotels, and residences dating back to its inception in 1156. Admire its radiant yellow sandstone walls, earning it the monikers "Sonar Kila" and "Golden Fort." Within the fort, discover the majestic Raj Mahal, a seven-storey palace steeped in history and once the residence of the king. Explore the Laxminath and Jain Temples, including the Laxminath Temple erected in 1494, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Enclosed within are seven Jain temples adorned with exquisite frescoes, mirrors, and intricate carvings. Marvel at the Tazia Tower's beautifully crafted balconies and the grandeur of Jawahar Niwas Palace, an imposing sandstone edifice. Continuing our exploration, we'll visit the magnificent Havelis, starting with Patwon ki Haveli, also known as Kothari’s Patwa Haveli, a luxurious mansion comprising five smaller havelis constructed in the 19th century for the sons of Guman Chand Patwa. Next, we'll explore Nathmal Ki Haveli, a historical mansion blending Rajput and Mughal architectural styles, once home to Diwan Mohta Nathmal. Conclude our tour with a visit to Salim Singh-ki-Haveli, built in 1815 by Salim Singh, the prime minister. This distinctive mansion, located near the railway, captivates with its unique charm. After our enriching exploration, prepare for a 5-hour journey to Jodhpur Airport or Railway Station for your onward travel.
